Bloodwood is a striking exotic hardwood native to South America, particularly the tropical forests of Brazil, Peru, and surrounding regions. It is highly sought after for its rich reddish-brown colour, fine texture, and distinctive natural grain, making it a popular choice for high-quality furniture, decorative pieces, and specialist timber projects.
Known for its excellent density and strength, Bloodwood machines well when sharp tools are used, although its hardness means it may require care during cutting and shaping.
